Five Tips to Pack Like a Pro
We’ve all been there. You get to your destination and realize you forgot your toothbrush. Ugh! Or maybe it’s your favorite lip gloss, face cream, or deodorant. Now you have to run out and buy a replacement for whatever you left at home. Yeah, worse things can happen, but it’s a bummer when you’re on vacation, and have to spend your time looking for a toothbrush instead of having fun.
So, if you have an upcoming trip, and you’re ready to pack like a pro, we have some tips for you. Plus, we have a free downloadable packing list so you don’t miss a thing.
BodyBoom’s Packing Tips
1. Pack in advance
You know you’re more likely to forget things when you pack in a rush. To avoid this mishap, commit to packing by, at the very least, the day before. Notice, we didn’t say the night before. You can even put it on your calendar! That way you make sure to give yourself plenty of time to pack your vacation must-haves.
Quick tip: Make the time go by faster by putting on some fun music - did you know we have Spotify playlists? Who doesn’t love to jam out to their fave tunes while knocking out a chore?
2. Use a packing list
One surefire way to not forget any of your beauty essentials is to make a list and check it off as you pack. Too busy to make one? Check out our free packing list! You’ll find the most important toiletries already listed there so all you have to do is check them off as you go.
Quick tip: Don’t forget to use the packing list when you’re traveling back too! That way you can avoid leaving your razor in the hotel shower (again) by checking things off your list as you pack to go home.
3. Know the TSA rules
If your vacay includes getting on a plane, you need to know the TSA rules, especially the ones about liquids. It’s easy if you remember 3-1-1. That means liquids, gels and aerosols packed in your carry-on must be less than 3.4 ounces each. They should all be placed together in 1 bag, and only 1 bag per passenger. Getting through the security checkpoint can be hectic, but you got this! Speed through security like the jetsetter you are.
Quick tip: Consolidate all your liquids into one plastic or cosmetic bag so if something does potentially leak, you’ll have a backup plan. The last thing you want is to be cleaning shampoo out of your luggage.
4. Shop the travel section
Most stores that sell toiletries have a travel section. Check it out! You’ll easily be able to find mini versions of essential health and beauty products. Look for travel-size shampoo, conditioner, body wash and more. Even items that aren’t liquid, are better as smaller versions.
Quick tip: Leave your full-sized items at home, and pack a travel-size deodorant, hairbrush, razor and moisturizer instead. Sure, you’re allowed to pack your full-size deodorant stick in your carry-on, but do you really want to?
5. Opt for reusable travel containers
Let’s say you LOVE your giant bottle of cleansing micellar water (who doesn’t?), but you obviously can’t take it with you. You can transfer a smaller amount into a reusable container. The same goes for your favorite shampoo, conditioner, sunblock, face wash or moisturizer. Plus, it’s better for the environment. Look out for containers that say “TSA Approved,” and choose a good quality set that you can use for years to come.
Quick tip: Use a smudge proof marker or waterproof stickers to label each container. You don’t want to mix up your shampoo with your conditioner, or worse, use hair gel to moisturize your face. Happy organizing!
Have fun on your trip!
